Welcome to Scallywags Petshop & Grooming Parlour. To us this is home, a place where we can share our love of animals, and help people care for their pets in the very best way. We mean it when we say we are always striving to be better. BETTER for us, BETTER for you and most importantly, BETTER FOR THE ANIMALS. Ours and yours!
Our Story
Well now that's a long one, so I will try to keep it brief. Firstly we are a family run business. Mum (Diane), Dad (John) and me (Karen, the one with pink hair). We work together and have done for a long long time, 41 years to be exact. When I was born 45 years ago mum was a nurse, and she loved her job. She had always wanted to be a nurse, but working nights and raising a small child during the day wasn't practical. So dad asked her what else she loved and was passionate about, and her answer was instant. The answer was animals. So in that moment Scallywags was born in the minds of mum and dad. Now on another page I will tell you the full story of the growth of the business. Including not having a till and using an ice cream tub for change, and my little sister being in a carry cot on top the chest freezer as a baby.

I have many tales to tell you. But they centre around the fact that I grew up in the most amazing place. I have watched my parents work their butts off, and can only ever aspire to be as amazing as they are.

Jump forward 41 years and here we are today. Mum running the grooming parlour, me running the shop, and dad on book keeping, financials and just to keep him extra busy he's the local delivery boy too.
​
We are constantly learning and educating ourselves, so that we have the most up to date thoughts on animal care, grooming, behaviour, diet, and much much more. We have launched our own home made enrichment for small animals, and have our own ranges of cat and dog food. We really have come a long long way, and we are very proud of who we have become. Mum and I regularly say "we may be small but we are mighty" and we absolutely mean it!!
